Supernovas Score Late to Upend Redbirds, 8-5
|
Getting a good performance from left fielder Ricardo Yates, the Scranton Supernovas defeated the Memphis Redbirds, 8-5. Yates was 2-3 with a home run, a walk, and was hit by a pitch. He scored 2 runs for the Supernovas. Alfredo Franco, credited with the win, is now 1-0. He allowed 1 run on 1 hit in 2.2 innings. The Supernovas, now 7-2, have hit the ground running this season.
Scranton won the game in the bottom of the ninth inning. With two outs and Hiro Kurasawa on the mound for Memphis, pinch hitter Syed Sarkar hit a dramatic 3-run home run, bringing Supernovas fans to their feet.
"We'll pop the top on a cold one and get back to work tomorrow," Sarkar said.
