In a tight game between the Texas Bronze Sox and the Sacramento Redlegs, pitcher Kevin Maughan was terrific on the mound. The Texas right-hander was named the player of the game in Texas's 2-1 win. Maughan got the win, improving to 1-7. He allowed 5 hits and walked 1 over 8 innings. Maughan allowed 1 earned run. Even with the win, the Bronze Sox have a dismal 27-66 record.

The Bronze Sox used some clutch hitting to beat the Redlegs, a good example being the at-bat of Cristo Cuervo in the bottom of the sixth. With two down, Cuervo gave his team the lead, 2-1, when he hit a run-scoring triple.

"We'll pop the top on a cold one and get back to work tomorrow," Maughan said.
