|
Baton Rouge beat Syracuse on the strength of starter Gerardo Pagán's fine effort. The left-hander led his team to a 8-0 win. Pagán, the winner, moves to 1-0. He threw 7.2 innings of 3-hit ball, while fanning 5 and giving up 4 walks. The Brass go to 45-48, putting them 7th in the Premier AAA.
In the bottom of the fourth, with Baton Rouge leading 1-0, catcher Francisco Rojas hit a 2-run single. The hit came off Dave McAlear and put the Brass ahead, 3-0.
"In baseball, you have your ups and downs," said Syracuse manager Kenny Billings. "You just try to stay level-headed the whole time."
