Disaster Come Up Short at Bakersfield
|
Fans who gathered at Jerome Grounds saw a good contest between the Bakersfield Nobles and Port Royal Disaster.
The Bakersfield Nobles picked up a win at Jerome Grounds, knocking off the Port Royal Disaster, 3-2. On the mound for Bakersfield was right-hander José Ruíz, who played a pivotal role in the win. Ruíz picked up the win for Bakersfield, going 8 innings. He gave up 1 run on 6 hits. He now sports a record of 1-0.
Temaki Yuka tagged a home run off Darren Garland in the bottom of the sixth. His solo blast put the Nobles on top, 2-1. In all, Yuka had 1 single in addition to the home run, while going 2 for 4.
Ruíz said the team appreciates the support from the fans. "I'm glad we could reward them with a good win," he said after the game.
Bakersfield goes to 66-26. The win puts them 7½ games up in their division.
