The Jersey City Tritons stopped the Syracuse Starks, 6-4, at Jersey City Grounds. The Tritons got a big game from Víctor Bojórquez, who was 3 for 4 with a home run and a double. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. Shaun Stroud, the winner, improved to 3-0. He held the Starks to 3 earned runs on 4 hits over 5.2 innings, while striking out 5 and walking 5. Wesley van Klaveren closed the game out for Jersey City, earning his 2nd save.
Santiago Valentín put Jersey City in front, 4-0, when he took Ollie McDaniell downtown. His 2-run home run came with no one out in the bottom of the third. It was his 6th home run of the season.
"A great team win and something real positive we can build on," said Valentín after the game.
Jersey City now sits in 7th place in the Premier AAA at 40-42.
