The Bloomington Longnecks did just enough to secure a 10-9 victory over the Syracuse Starks at Stark Stadium. Nobody did more than right fielder David Milliken, who captured player of the game honors. Bloomington reliever Tom King was the winner. His record is now 1-0. The losing pitcher was Jeffery Brock. The second-place Longnecks are now 47-28, the Starks 19-56.

Bloomington relied on the bat of Leonid Machehin to get the win. The left fielder ripped a solo home run in the top of the 11th inning to put the Longnecks ahead, 10-9. For the game, Machehin had 1 double and 1 home run in 5 at-bats.

"The boys were really swinging the bats today," winning manager Coy Knight said.
