Starks Prevail, 6-4, Over Jersey City
|
The Syracuse Starks overcame a good performance by Jersey City first baseman Bud Randall to knock off Jersey City, 6-4, at Stark Stadium. Randall was 4 for 4 with 4 singles and a walk. Jeffery Brock earned the save for Syracuse, his 1st of the year. The last-place Starks have won 4 straight games.
The Starks got a big at-bat from third baseman Mikko Haataja. For the game, Haataja was 1-4 with a walk. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. In the bottom of the sixth, with the bases loaded, he stroked a 2-run single. His 68th hit of the season gave Syracuse a 6-4 lead.
"Feels good to get the job done," Haataja said after the game.
