Yakima and Durham duked it out at Rapiers Ballpark and the Hops came out victorious.
The Yakima Hops picked up a win at Rapiers Ballpark, knocking off the Durham Rapiers, 5-3. On the mound for Yakima was right-hander Chris McDonald, who played a pivotal role in the win. McDonald, now 3-1, was the winner. In 7 innings, he gave up 8 hits, while striking out 4, walking 1, and allowing 2 earned runs. Batu Khan earned the save for Yakima, his 7th of the year.
It could have been a different outcome for Yakima, had it not been for Flint Myers, the 23-year old center fielder . Myers contributed a 2-run single in the top of the first inning to put Yakima up, 2-0.
"I made some pitches when I had to," said McDonald.
Yakima is now 15-16, Durham 17-14.
