Torres Helps Humpbacks Run Win Streak to 4
|
The Alaskan Humpbacks defeated the Syracuse Starks, 12-4, at Sea World. Alaskan shortstop José Torres was named player of the game for his superb performance. He was 2-3 with 2 home runs and a walk. He drove in 6 runs and scored twice. Ratko Peric, the winner, improved to 2-4. He held Syracuse to 2 earned runs on 1 hit over 5 innings, while racking up 6 strikeouts. The losses continue to pile up for Syracuse, which has now fallen 10 times in a row.
Torres put Alaskan up, 6-0, when he hit a grand slam home run off Edmund Blackadder in the bottom of the first. His 2nd home run of the season helped the Humpbacks capture the win.
"Win or lose, we always try to grind it out and stay even-keeled," Torres said in reaction to the win.
