Biloxi got a terrific performance from pitcher Júlio del Bosque, but it wasn't enough to beat the Yakima Hops. Yakima won the Hops Park contest, 2-1. del Bosque was the player of the game despite being on the losing side. He threw 7 innings of 4-hit ball. Yakima reliever Batu Khan was the winner. His record is now 2-1. The losing pitcher was Bill Glenn. The Hops are now 13-15, while the Shuckers fall to 13-15.
Doug Watson chipped in for Yakima with a run-scoring single in the bottom of the tenth. For the game, the shortstop had 3 hits in 5 at-bats with 1 home run, 2 singles, 1 run scored, and 2 RBI.
"What a great win for our team," said a jubilant Phillip Tinker, the Yakima manager.
