Longnecks Raise Rally Flag, Beat Jersey City, 5-1

The Bloomington Longnecks got a good effort from starter Jason Poulter in defeating the Jersey City Tritons at Jersey City Grounds. The final score was 5-1. Poulter got the win, improving to 4-4. He allowed 6 hits and walked 3 over 8 innings. Poulter allowed 1 earned run. The third-place Longnecks have won 4 in a row.
Bloomington used the timely hitting of Pedro Gutiérrez to seize the win. The designated hitter stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the eighth inning to put the Longnecks on top, 2-1. It was his only hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"There were things that we could've improved upon," said Longnecks manager Coy Knight, "but all in all, I'm satisfied with our performance."
