Losing Streak Continues for Starks with 9-5 Loss to Nobles
|
The Bakersfield Nobles downed the Syracuse Starks, 9-5, at Stark Stadium. The Nobles were led by Juan Macíel, who captured player of the game honors. He went 3 for 4 with a double, 2 singles, and a walk, while scoring 2 runs. Bakersfield starter Pedro Herrera was credited with the win after throwing 90 pitches over 5.1 innings. His record now stands at 5-1. The second-place Nobles have won 5 straight.
The result might have been different for Bakersfield, had it not been for Juan Dávila, the 28-year old shortstop . Dávila stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the fourth inning to put Bakersfield up, 4-2. For the game, he had 1 double and 1 single in 5 at-bats.
"I like our moxie," said Nobles manager Zach King.
