Brass Come Back Late to Top Nobles
|
The Bakersfield Nobles got a sterling performance from pitcher Pedro Herrera, but the Brass still prevailed, 5-3. Herrera was named the player of the game in a losing cause. He threw 7 innings of 4-hit ball. Baton Rouge reliever Gilberto Chávez was the winner. His record is now 3-1. The losing pitcher was Turner Shamburger. The Brass move to 21-22 with the win, while the Nobles drop to 28-15.
Baton Rouge used the clutch hitting of Tomislav Jovovich to capture the win. The pinch hitter drilled a 2-run home run in the top of the ninth inning to put the Brass ahead, 5-3. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a big one.
"Some of the guys in here work hard, some of the guys just kind of fall out of bed and get it done. Whatever works I guess, we won this one," Jovovich told the Baton Rouge Observer.
