Hops Score Late to Upend Farmers, 4-2
|
Behind a solid performance from second baseman John Mast, the Yakima Hops defeated the Lancaster Farmers, 4-2. Mast was 3-4 with a home run, a triple, and a double, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once for the Hops. Charlie Hilder got credit for the win, improving to 3-0. He allowed no runs on no hits in 1.2 innings. The Hops, at 10-11, sit in 6th place in the Silver AA.
The game was at a stalemate until center fielder Flint Myers came to bat in the bottom of the eighth. Facing Lancaster pitcher Juan Santos, he hit a 1-1 fastball for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Yakima on top, 3-2.
"Nice to put this one in the win column," said Mast.
