Voodoo Stun Battery, 8-6
|
Charleston got a terrific game from third baseman Mario Álvarez. It wasn't enough, though, to prevent the team from falling to New Orleans, 8-6. Álvarez was the player of the game despite being on the losing side. He was 2-5 with a home run, while scoring 2 times and driving in 3. Ted Chong got credit for the win, improving to 1-0. He allowed 1 run on 1 hit in 1.2 innings. Grover Lowdermilk was called on to finish, recording his 1st save.
New Orleans used a timely hit from Jonathan Gunner to get the win. The left fielder delivered a run-scoring triple in the top of the eighth inning to put the Voodoo on top, 7-6. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a game-changer.
"Win or lose, we pick each other up in this clubhouse," Gunner told the New Orleans Herald.
Losses have been few and far between for the Battery, who are now 4-1.
