Minnesota first baseman Júlio Souza had a 3-RBI performance, which helped his team grab a 6-4 win over the Virginia Beach Whales. John Lee got the win, improving to 1-0. He worked 5 innings, giving up 4 runs on 6 hits, while striking out 2 and walking 4. Getting the save was Terry Lesage, his 4th.

Minnesota used the timely hitting of Tobias Valencia to seize the win. The left fielder stroked a 2-run single in the top of the second inning to put the Loons on top, 5-3. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.

"We played hard and won," said Souza. "Sometimes, baseball really is that easy.'

The Whales fall to 6-8 and continue their lackluster start to the 2040 season.
