Behind a solid performance from catcher Raffaello Dichio, the Atlantic City Sonics defeated the Akron Blimps, 7-6. Dichio was 3-4 with 3 singles. He drove in 3 runs and scored once for the Sonics. The Sonics raised their record to 11-2.
Atlantic City used the timely hitting of Luis Ortíz to seize the win. The pinch hitter stroked a 2-run single in the top of the eighth inning to put the Sonics on top, 7-6. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a game-changer.
"As well as we've been playing, I think we can play even better," said Atlantic City manager Juan López.
