The Minnesota Loons defeated the Virginia Beach Whales, 6-1. Earning player of the game honors was center fielder Robbie Brendle, who went 3-4 with 2 doubles and a walk. Pjotr de Moor picked up the win in relief, improving his record to 1-0. Clint Kirk was tagged with the loss. The Loons are off to a tough start, getting just their 5th win in 13 games.

Minnesota used the timely hitting of Júlio Souza to capture the win. The first baseman stroked a 2-run double in the top of the third inning to put the Loons on top, 3-0. It was his only hit in 5 at-bats, but he made it count.

"We put a lot of pressure on ourselves," Souza told a Minnesota Times reporter. "Sometimes we need just to relax."
