Shredders Win at New Orleans, 7-5
|
The New Orleans Voodoo got a superb performance from pitcher Gerardo Pagán. Still, it wasn't enough to beat Hollywood. The Shredders won the game, 7-5. In spite of the loss, Pagán was named the player of the game. He came in in relief and pitched to 18 batters . Matthew Fallows got the win, improving to 3-2. He pitched 5.1 innings, giving up 9 hits and 3 runs, while striking out 5 and walking 0. Hollywood is now 21-22, New Orleans 22-21.
Hollywood used the bat of Kanko Umaba to get the win. The left fielder hammered a grand slam home run in the top of the first inning to put the Shredders ahead, 4-0. It was his lone hit in 4 at-bats, but it did its damage.
"We took advantage of our opportunities," Umaba told the Hollywood Chronicle. "It's as simple as that."
