Blimps Win in 13
|
Minnesota shortstop Alejandro Cantú was sensational. He slugged 2 home runs, but it wasn't enough to rally his team to a win. Akron beat the Loons, 5-4. Cantú was named the player of the game despite the loss. Akron reliever Wiley Washington picked up the win, upping his record to 3-0. Vicente Dávila absorbed the loss. The Blimps, now 10-2, have had a terrific start to the season.
Ernest Franks had a productive at-bat for the Blimps with no one out in the top of the 13th. With the bases empty, the right fielder drew a walk. The at-bat was important in the Akron win.
"What we get, we earn," Franks told the Akron Gazette.
