Thrilling Walk-Off Win for Rapiers
The Durham Rapiers took Virginia Beach pitcher Ed Alexander's best shot and still were able to claim a win at Rapiers Ballpark. The final score had Durham getting past the Whales, 4-3. Alexander went 5.2 innings and allowed no earned runs, striking out 2. The Rapiers, now 4-2, have been playing some good baseball.

Lorenzo Ortíz was the walk-off hero for Durham. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Rapiers center fielder hit a dramatic run-scoring single to send the teams home.

"You get some opportunities, you better take advantage of them," said Virginia Beach manager Bernie Drake.
