With second baseman Jim Robbins leading the charge, the Akron Blimps defeated the Irving Blue Sox, 8-6, at Goodyear Hanger Dome. Robbins was 2 for 3 with a home run and a walk. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. Akron goes to 3-0 with the win.

The game was all tied up in the bottom of the eighth, until Robbins delivered big-time for Akron, stroking a dramatic 2-run home run off Donnie Rawling. The game-changing hit put the Blimps on top, 8-6.
