Blimps Shut Out Blue Sox
|
Akron pitcher Ken Richmond did his part in helping his team beat the Irving Blue Sox, 6-0. The right-hander kept opposing batters in check throughout the game. Richmond picked up the win for Akron, going 7.2 innings. He gave up no runs on 4 hits. He now sports a record of 1-0. The Blimps, now 2-0, have stormed out of the gates.
Jim Robbins had a key at-bat with one out in the bottom of the second for Akron. With the bases loaded and the Blimps leading 1-0, he drew a walk, driving in 1 run.
"We'll savor this win," Richmond told the Akron Gazette, "then get ready for the next game."
