Lesaca 4-5 as Battery Squeeze Past New Orleans
|
Getting a good performance from second baseman Datu Lesaca, the Charleston Battery defeated the New Orleans Voodoo, 5-4. Lesaca went 4-5 with 2 doubles and 2 singles. He drove in 4 runs and scored once for the Battery. Miguel Angel Martínez was the winning pitcher. Over 7 innings, he allowed 2 runs on 6 hits, with 2 walks and 4 strikeouts. Charleston, at 22-17, sits in second place in the Premier League.
With Charleston leading 2-0 in the top of the seventh, Lesaca hit a bases-clearing double off New Orleans hurler Ted Chong. It was the 12th double of the season for Lesaca and put his team ahead, 5-0.
"I'll probably toss and turn tonight," New Orleans manager Chase Sims said following the tough loss.
