Timber Hawks Bang Out 7-1 Win Versus Athletic Club KC
|
In baseball, each game is unique. This one was no different.
The Augusta Timber Hawks beat the Athletic Club KC Reserves, 7-1, at KC Reserve Stadium. The win was largely due to the efforts of shortstop Li-ren Ku, who captured player of the game honors. He went 3 for 4 with a double, 2 singles, and was hit by a pitch, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. The winner was Augusta reliever Pedro Tavárez, now 2-0. The loser was Kullervo Hostikka.
With Augusta leading 2-0 in the top of the second, Ku hit a curveball from Kullervo Hostikka for a run-scoring single. It was his 13th hit of the season and put the Timber Hawks ahead, 3-0.
Ku attributed the win to "energy and focus on the part of everyone."
Augusta is now 50-51, while Athletic Club KC is 42-59.
