Timber Hawks Pull Off Thrilling Win in Extras
|
Milton got a terrific performance from pitcher Javier Castillo, but it wasn't enough to beat the Augusta Timber Hawks. Augusta won the Milton Corner Tavern contest, 4-2. Castillo was the player of the game despite being on the losing side. He threw 6 innings of shutout ball. The win was credited to Kenny James in relief. His record improves to 2-0. Dave Haynes took the loss. Pierre Delecto earned the save for Augusta, his 5th of the year.
Late-game drama came in the top of the ninth inning. With two out and a runner on 1st, the batter, Ramiro Palmeiro, hit a double. It helped Augusta seize the win.
"I still think this team has room for improvement," Palmeiro told the Augusta Gazette.
The Timber Hawks now have a record of 25-20.
