Pride Squelch ParksNRec Offense in Shutout Win
|
In a low-scoring tilt between the Hartford Pride and the Pawnee ParksNRec, Dan Bell was the difference-maker. The Hartford left-hander earned player of the game honors in the 3-0 win. In 7 innings, Bell surrendered 7 hits, while striking out 5 and walking 1. He allowed no runs. The Pride saw their win-loss record go to 16-25. At the same time, the ParksNRec fell to 19-22.
The ParksNRec had been locked in a 0-0 tie with the Pride going into the bottom of the fifth inning. That changed quickly when the 25-year old left fielder Peer Kattenberg came to the plate. Kattenberg hit a run-scoring double on a 1-1 fastball from Pawnee hurler Markus Jutzi. It was Kattenberg's 10th double of the year.
"I just try to see the ball and put a good swing on it," said Kattenberg.
