The Athletic Club KC Reserves defeated the Austin Black Mambas, 4-2, in M3L Triple A action at KC Reserve Stadium, with Athletic Club KC pitcher Owen Estrada named player of the game. Estrada picked up the win for Athletic Club KC, going 8 innings. He gave up 2 runs on 6 hits. He now sports a record of 3-0. David Maxwell picked up the save, his 2nd.
The Reserves got a big at-bat from center fielder César Valtez. For the game, Valtez went 2-5 with 2 singles. In the bottom of the sixth, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a run-scoring single. His 8th hit of the season gave Athletic Club KC a 3-2 lead.
"Throwing strikes was the main thing," Estrada said.
Even with the win, the Reserves have a dismal 9-22 record.
