Rocks Score Late to Upend Fighting Dachsunds, 6-2
|
The Ellenburg Fighting Dachsunds got a superb performance from pitcher Jeff McDermott, but the Plymouth Rocks still won the game, 6-2. McDermott was named the player of the game despite the loss. He threw 8 innings of 3-hit ball. T.J. Juckson picked up the save for Plymouth, his 3rd of the year. The Rocks, now 6-1, have stormed out of the gates.
The game was at a stalemate until right fielder Jesús Guillén came to bat in the top of the ninth. Facing Ellenburg pitcher Tim Sandaele, he hit a first pitch fastball for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Plymouth on top, 3-2.
Guillén told a Plymouth Today reporter that he was "more than satisfied" with the win.
