Buffalo right-hander Juan Guillén made an effective start against the Portland Evergreens at Evergreen Park, leading his team to a 4-3 win. The win was credited to Damien Hayward in relief. His record improves to 1-0. Ron Mingo took the loss. With the win, the White Walkers improved to 15-9.
Buffalo needed the clutch hitting of Max Bortenschlager to notch the win. The second baseman hammered a 2-run home run in the top of the 12th inning to put the White Walkers on top, 4-2. For the game, Bortenschlager had 1 home run and 1 single in 5 at-bats.
"It was terrific getting this win," Guillén said. "We put in a lot of work to do it."
