Rainbow Mermaids Come Back Late to Clip Battery
The Northern Virginia Rainbow Mermaids eked out a 4-3 win versus the Charleston Battery at Atlantica. Nobody did more than pitcher Ton Jobse, who captured player of the game honors. The winner was Yoriyoshi Sugimoto in relief. His record improves to 1-1. Scott Morrison took the loss. Northern Virginia, now 11-11, holds 6th place in the Premier League.

Mario Castillo drove in one run for Northern Virginia. The 29-year old second baseman had a key at-bat in the bottom of the eighth. With no one out and the bases loaded, he broke a 3-3 tie with a run-scoring sacrifice fly off Paco Salazar. It was his 9th RBI of the season.

"I'm just looking for a good pitch that I can hit well," said Castillo. "And not try to do too much."
