Rainbow Mermaids Score Late to Upend Flamingos, 6-5
|
The Northern Virginia Rainbow Mermaids took Las Vegas pitcher Isaaka Ienimea's best shot and still were able to claim a win at The Strip. The final score had Northern Virginia getting past the Flamingos, 6-5. Ienimea went 7 innings and allowed 1 earned run, striking out 4. Bobby Ruegsegger picked up the win in relief, improving his record to 1-0. Jim Sison was tagged with the loss. Brewster Warble recorded his 1st save for Northern Virginia.
Tim Stinson helped out the Northern Virginia cause in the top of the ninth inning with a run-scoring walk. For the game, the catcher went 1-3 with a double and a walk.
"I like our moxie," said Rainbow Mermaids manager David Lister.
With the win, Northern Virginia is 2-0.
