Red Pandas End Young's Streak Thursday, August 11th, 2039 It was the best of both worlds for the Sioux Falls Red Pandas today at Timber Hawks Ballpark, as they defeated the Augusta Timber Hawks 4-2 and also snapped Junior Young's 23-game hitting streak. The 22-year-old Augusta catcher failed to get a hit in 3 at-bats. "Nothing personal against Young, we just wanted to win the game," said Red Pandas skipper Todd England. "We did a great job keeping him off-balance and guessing." When asked by reporters about his streak coming to an end, Young frowned and said, "I won't lie and say that I'm not disappointed about it, but I'd feel much better if we had won." This season Young is batting .306 with 8 home runs. |
