Timber Hawks Oliva and Coyotes van Veldhuizen Suspended for Fight Monday, July 11th, 2039 If there wasn't a history between Richello Oliva of Augusta and Jeffrey van Veldhuizen of Hamilton, then there is one now. The incident between the two sparked a bench-clearing scrum with those two being the center of attention. Now they will miss 5 and 11 games respectively as a result of their actions. The league office announced their suspensions today. "We're both really competitive," Oliva said later, "and sometimes things go a little too far because of it." In 31 games Oliva is hitting .346 this season with 37 hits, 4 home runs, 18 RBIs, 12 walks, .421 OBP and has scored 14 runs. So far this season van Veldhuizen has a 2-5 record, 10 starts, 52.2 innings, 35 strikeouts and a 5.47 ERA. |
