Lakers Gillespie Raps 3 Homers Tuesday, September 13th, 2039 Echo Park first baseman Phil Gillespie blasted three homers today at Athletics Park in the 5-3 Lakers victory over the Athletic Club KC. For the game, Phil Gillespie scored 3 times and knocked in 3 runs. When he hit his last home run, his teammates, hearing the crack of the bat, leaped off the bench and rushed on the field to greet the jubilant Gillespie when he reached home plate. "It was just one game, but it sure was a lot of fun -- 4-for-4, three roundtrippers and a win," a gleeful Gillespie told BNN reporters in a postgame interview. "What a day." Phil Gillespie hit a solo-shot off Roman Phansalker in the 3rd, doubled in the 5th, hit a solo-shot off Taalay Ibragimov in the 8th and hit a solo-shot off Taalay Ibragimov in the 9th. For the season Gillespie is batting .252 with 27 hits and 5 home runs. He has scored 24 times and batted in 10. |
