Dragoons End Ikenaki's Streak
Saturday, June 25th, 2039
Washington center fielder Hori Ikenaki came into today's game against the Louisiana Dragoons on a hot streak. He left on a cold one.
The Dragoons did their jobs well, beating the Washington Generals 9-3 and holding Ikenaki hitless to snap his 20-game hitting streak. The 22-year-old center fielder had a few words to say after finishing 0-for-3, telling reporters only that he "came up short."
"What Hori did was exciting and quite an achievement," said Generals manager Desmond Woodford. "It's tough enough to get one hit in this league, much less go 20 games in a row. I'm even more proud of the way he handled the press coverage. He never let the frenzy get to him or affect his play."
Ikenaki currently has a .277 batting average with 43 hits, 3 homers, 24 RBIs, 12 runs scored and a .315 OBP.
