Lighthouse Edge Past Cattlemen, 8-7

The inspired effort of Ft. Worth shortstop Ashley Thachi was not enough to prevent a 8-7 loss to the Long Island Lighthouse. Thachi went 3-4 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2. Alexander Weareorwear, credited with the win, is now 3-1. He allowed no runs on 1 hit in 1.1 innings. Júlio Rodríguez was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 18 of 22 save opportunities.
Had Juan Santángel not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 2nd, Santángel hit a run-scoring double. That made the score 8-7, in favor of the Lighthouse.
"You can't get too high when things go well, or too low when things go bad. Right now, I'm just happy we got the win," Santángel told the Long Island News.
Long Island occupies 9th place in the Silver League at 39-49.
