Toope Collects Cycle
|
Getting 4 hits is a good day by any measure, but when those include a single, double, triple and a home run -- that's something special. Mark Toope's day was a special one.
The second baseman hit for the cycle to spark the Nashville Outlaws to a 9-4 victory over the Oakland Oaks at Oakland Coliseum today. Nashville manager Ryan Naylor said he thought the whole lineup looked good in batting practice, but had not been expecting anything extraordinary from Toope in particular.
"Mark caught me by surprise today," he said. "He looked good before the game, but man, he looked unbelievable during it."
For the day, Toope finished with 3 RBI and 2 runs scored to go with his 4 hits.
Mark Toope hit an RBI triple in the 1st, hit an RBI single in the 2nd, hit a solo-shot off Elroy Quaid in the 5th, flied out in the 7th and doubled in the 9th.
In 68 games this season Toope is batting .282 with 70 hits and 6 home runs. He has scored 35 runs and driven in 40.
