Northern Lions BC Come Back Late to Clip Oaks
Oakland got a terrific performance from pitcher Miguel Cabañas, but it wasn't enough to beat the Thunder Bay Northern Lions BC. Thunder Bay won the Oakland Coliseum contest, 8-3. Cabañas was the player of the game despite being on the losing side. He came in in relief and pitched to 18 batters . Thunder Bay reliever Peace Addo picked up the win, upping his record to 4-2. Jeff Mahl was saddled with the loss. The Northern Lions BC improve their record to 32-45 with the win over Oakland.

The outcome might have been different for Thunder Bay, had it not been for Curf Pierstisnips, the 24-year old second baseman . Pierstisnips stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the ninth inning to put Thunder Bay up, 4-3. For the game, he was 2 for 4, including 1 double and 1 single.

"I'm proud of the boys for pulling through," said Northern Lions BC manager Scott Williams. "The wins don't come easy for this team, but everyone's got an extra jump in their step after a game like this."
