Cattlemen Fall Short, 2-1, at San Mateo
|
The Ft. Worth Cattlemen got a superb performance from pitcher Allen Werner. Still, it wasn't enough to beat San Mateo. The Dirty Reds won the game, 2-1. In spite of the loss, Werner was named the player of the game. He threw 5 innings of 2-hit ball. José Barquero, credited with the win, is now 3-1. He allowed no runs on 2 hits in 3 innings. San Mateo is now 38-37, Ft. Worth 41-34.
The Dirty Reds got a big boost from left fielder Zahid Kashani who had a run-scoring ground out in the bottom of the third inning off Cattlemen hurler Allen Werner. It was his 49th RBI of the season and put San Mateo on top, 1-0.
"Winning is all that really matters and we got it done today," Kashani told the San Mateo Daily.
