Battery Top Dirty Reds, 3-2

The Charleston Battery topped the San Mateo Dirty Reds, 3-2, in United States Silver League action at Lang Park. The player of the game was Charleston pitcher and Floydada, Texas native Melvin Tiburcio. Tiburcio got the win, improving to 9-3. He allowed 2 hits and walked 1 over 7.1 innings. Tiburcio allowed 2 earned runs. Paco Salazar earned the save for Charleston, his 3rd of the year.
The Battery got a big boost from third baseman Mario Álvarez who had a run-scoring ground out in the top of the fourth inning off Dirty Reds hurler Anastasio Cabanillas Jr.. It was his 30th RBI of the season and put Charleston on top, 3-2.
"If we play well, we'll win our share of games," said Álvarez. "The only team that can beat us is us."
The winning streak has now reached 4 games for the Battery.
