The Charleston Battery picked up a win at Lang Park, knocking off the San Mateo Dirty Reds, 5-3. Starting pitcher Scott Morrison played a key role in the triumph. The winning pitcher was Morrison, now 4-3. He tossed 7.1 innings of 5-hit ball, while walking 0 and fanning 6. The Battery have an impressive 41-26 record.
Charleston took a 4-2 lead on Datu Lesaca's 12th double of the season. The run-scoring double, which Lesaca hit in the top of the eighth, left San Mateo pitcher Barney Starr visibly frustrated.
"We did enough to win," said Lesaca.
