Einarsson, Rainbow Mermaids Sink Voodoo Again in Game
|
Northern Virginia shortstop Kjartan Einarsson was the key at The Voodoo Lounge today, being named player of the game as he powered the Rainbow Mermaids to victory in a critical Game of the Round 2040. The Rainbow Mermaids took the 14-4 win over the New Orleans Voodoo to seize a - lead in the best-of- series.
Northern Virginia used a timely hit from Mario Castillo to get the win. The second baseman delivered a bases-clearing triple in the top of the fifth inning to put the Rainbow Mermaids on top, 4-0. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"It's true for every sport, I think, but the playoffs are so short that you've just got to get in and get hot," Northern Virginia manager David Lister told BNN after the win. "We took care of the first part and now we're just working on the second."
Game 6 is set to be played Sunday, October 23rd, 2039. The scheduled starters for the game are Gary Ashley for New Orleans and Gerald Orlebar for Northern Virginia.
