The Ft. Worth Cattlemen defeated the Thunder Bay Northern Lions BC, 9-1, at Great Northern Field today. Leading the charge for Ft. Worth was shortstop Ashley Thachi. He went 3-4 with a double, 2 singles, and a walk, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. Nam Yee Yong recorded his 1st save for Ft. Worth. The losses continue to mount for Thunder Bay, which has now dropped 6 in a row.
Ft. Worth relied on the hitting of Dewitt Hopper to pick up the win. The first baseman clubbed a 2-run home run in the top of the first inning to put the Cattlemen on top, 2-0. For the game, Hopper had 1 home run and 1 single in 5 at-bats.
"We played hard and won," said Thachi. "Sometimes, baseball really is that easy.'
