The Tortolita Drummers started the SL AAA Championship in style today, winning on the road against the Plymouth Rocks at Plymouth Quarry by a score of 12-5 to take an early 1-0 lead in the best-of-5 series. Drummers third baseman Mason Congdon was named player of the game after he belted 2 home runs, while scoring 4 runs and driving in 3.

A crucial at-bat came with runners on 1st and 2nd and one out in the top of the sixth inning. That's when first baseman Tso-i Wang drew a walk. The Drummers went on to win.

"I like easy wins," Wang told the Tortolita Gazette. "And easy wins in the playoffs are even better."

Game 2 is set to be played tomorrow at Plymouth Quarry. Slated to start are Will Hoffman for the Tortolita Drummers and Jesús Fernández for the the Plymouth Rocks.
