Alaskan Breaks Through for First Win in PL AAA Championship; Now Trails 2-1
|
The Alaskan Humpbacks have closed some of the gap between themselves and the series-leading Bakersfield Nobles, winning 9-2 at Sea World today. Humpbacks right-hander César Soto was named player of the game after he threw 7 innings of 6-hit ball. The win cuts the deficit facing the Humpbacks to 2-1 in the best-of-5 PL AAA Championship.
A crucial at-bat came with a runner on 3rd and two out in the bottom of the sixth inning. That's when right fielder Tumas Wenzu drew a walk. The Humpbacks went on to win.
"We're happy," Soto told reporters after the win. "When you're in the playoffs, you've got to treat every game like it could be your last."
Game 4 is scheduled for tomorrow at Sea World in Eugene. The scheduled starters for the game are Jaganmani Vivek for Bakersfield and Jason Lissenberg for Alaskan.
