Road Win Lifts Syracuse to 1-0 Lead in R1
|
The Syracuse Storm started the SL A Championship in style today, winning on the road against the Caldwell Chiefs at Pipers Ballpark by a score of 6-1 to take an early 1-0 lead in the best-of-5 series. Storm center fielder Brian Harmon was named player of the game after he went 3 for 3 with 2 triples and 2 walks. He drove in 2 runs and scored once.
The result might have been different for Syracuse, had it not been for Jong-yun Rhee. The designated hitter produced a run-scoring single in the top of the fourth inning to put the Storm ahead, 3-0. For the game, Rhee had 2 doubles and 1 single in 5 at-bats.
Harmon told a Syracuse Observer reporter that he was "more than satisfied" with the win.
Game 2 is set to be played tomorrow in Caldwell. Slated to start are Greg Poe for Syracuse and Sanford Shades for Caldwell.
