The Boston Patriots stymied the Portland Evergreens, 5-1, at Evergreen Park. Eisse van Opdorp, who had a good day at the plate, was named player of the game. He was 2-4 with a home run, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once for Boston. Elton Coalan got the win, improving to 2-1. He worked 5 innings, giving up 1 run on 5 hits, while striking out 4 and walking 2. Jorge Gil, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 3rd save.

Boston took a 5-1 lead on van Opdorp's 6th home run of the season. The grand slam home run, which he hit off Giovanni Mireles in the top of the sixth, propelled Boston to the win.

"I felt we were ready to go," said Boston manager Tyler Carter. "Our pregame was pretty good."

Boston is off to a sluggish start, getting just their 6th win in 17 games.
