Melichar, Houston Start Third League Championship Strong with Home Win
The Houston 1837 BBC moved to within one game of the Round 2 today, downing the visiting Long Island Lighthouse at Houston Grounds by a score of 6-5. 1837 BBC second baseman Krystof Melichar was named player of the game after he went 3 for 4 with 3 singles, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. The win gives the 1837 BBC a - advantage in the best-of- Third League Championship.

Houston grabbed control in the bottom of the seventh. With one out and a runner on 3rd, César Gómes delivered a run-scoring single, to make it 6-5 in favor of the 1837 BBC.

"There was a kid in the stands with a sign that said 'Houston 1837 BBC (probably) 2039 Menard's Third League Championship Champions'," Melichar told reporters after the game. "I told him, 'Premature, but I like the confidence.'"
