Still Kicking: St. Louis Cut Northern Virginia Series Lead to - With Late Win
|
The St. Louis Coeur and the Northern Virginia Rainbow Mermaids will take the Silver League Championship to a decisive th game. The Coeur got a dramatic walk-off victory in a must-win situation today to beat the Rainbow Mermaids 6-5 at The BFIB and force the series into what will essentially be a one-game playoff. Northern Virginia catcher Tim Stinson was named player of the game in a losing effort after he was 4-6 with 4 singles and a walk, while adding 2 RBI.
The clutch at-bat came in the bottom of the 15th inning, when St. Louis third baseman Jur Prokop, facing Henry Henry, had a run-scoring sacrifice fly. It gave the Coeur the 6-5 win.
"We saved our best for last," said Prokop.
